A Nordic King A Standalone Romance edition by Karina Halle Literature Fiction eBooks
I’m not a writer and I have trouble sometimes expressing in book reviews my feelings about a book. What I can say is I am an avid reader, I read between 50-75 books a year. A Nordic King would easily rank within my top five books this year.I’m not going to lie the cover was what drew me in. The saying is “Don’t judge a book by the cover” but this cover was the most gorgeous thing I have ever seen and then I read the synopsis and was sold.
I became invested in the story from the beginning and several things held my interest throughout the book. First was the relationship between Aurora and Aksel, she is his nanny and he is the King of Denmark. Even though he treats her badly she refuses to put up with it and challenges him at every turn. Despite all that there is a growing attraction between them.
Second thing would be not knowing where the story was going which was refreshing. Their relationship can never be public. Is there even a future to think about?
I highly recommend reading this book. It’s a standalone Royal Romance spin off and even though I haven’t read any of the other books in the series I will be checking them out.

A Nordic King A Standalone Romance edition by Karina Halle Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
A Nordic King is—Guyssss, it's so angsty! King Aksel had me in his clutches from the prologue alone. I may or may not have (totally may have) cried and ate all the chocolates in sight. But that's not all!! Aksel may be broody, I mean seriously look at the cover, but this guy is worth all the swoons!! Karina Halle has created a character that will emotionally affect you in so many ways!
Crowned King of Denmark at a young age, King Aksel married for love only to be left a widow with two little ones and the weight of his entire country on his shoulders. He's intense and it shows in his stare, the heaviness of the crown like a dark shadow constantly swirling around him... And Aurora gets a firsthand look at it when she becomes the nanny to King Aksel's daughters. Though this isn't Aurora's first rodeo in the caretaker business, she's inexperienced in handling princesses and soon her new life in Copenhagen becomes a treasured adventure.
Forbidden stories that have me cheering the characters on are some of my favorites. Karina Halle penned a novel that had a few different aspects Fourteen year age gap, employer and employee, royal and common—it all pulled me in further with each page read. Add in Snarf Snarf, the witty banter between Aksel and Aurora, those precious girls and Karina had me wrapped around her little finger completely with this novel!
Charming and passionate, A Nordic King will give you ten thousand flutters, warm your skin, and make you blush. It's the kind of romance that will not only make your heart skip a beat, but ultimately woo you!
Ms Halle delivers a beautifully written love after loss S-L-O-W burn royal romance in the Nordic King.
King Aksel, brooding and ice cold just like the winter weather in the country over which he reigns as monarch.
Aurora our beautiful Aussie girl and nanny to the Kings precious little girls Clara and Freya.
Both have huge secrets and both are riddled with guilt that makes them believe they never deserve to find love and happiness. Add to that the fact that Aurora is the nanny and OMG I was in book heaven!!
The slow burn was written to perfection because whilst I was keen to see Aksel and Aurora together I was engrossed in everything around them that lead them to their first forbidden kiss!
Aurora was an absolute cracker, with her energy, humour and love for the girls and Snarf Snarf the Royal pet pig! She knew how to press King Aksel’s buttons and inthe begining drove him crazy which was really great to read.
They start of as enemies and barely tolerate each otherI didn’t know how Ms Halle was going to bring it all together and pull it off without making it cliche or corny but she absolutely did!! I just loved it.
Karina Halle's royals are like none I've read before. A Nordic King is a complete standalone with no appearances from previous story characters. You can start here, or with The Swedish Price, or The Wild Heir and you're good to go!
Aurora James is an Australian in Europe living life as a nanny to wealthy families. She's between jobs when she gets a call to apply for a secretive charge. Two adorable girls without a mother in the Danish royal palace. What could happen?
"She gave me life again when I'd stopped living mine long ago."
King Aksel has admonished himself because of the death of his wife. He feels he doesn't deserve a happily ever after. Hiring a nanny is the only way he knows how to care for his girls. When Aurora comes to the palace, he knows he'll be in trouble. Love and hope know no bounds when these two get started.
"You love me. I am home."
Tears spring to my eyes. "Home?"
He nods, just an inch, brow forever furrowed. "I've waited forty years for my heart to have a home," he says softly, his voice breaking with emotion. "I've waited for you."
You guys, I have all the love for A Nordic King. All. The. Love. I cannot recommend this book enough. It does start out with super heavy vibes (think The Lie), and just takes off running from there. A Nordic King is super sweet and silly, heartfelt and steamy. It's got all the makings for a spectacular romance, and Karina delivers from page one! With that said, I'm wondering how Karina's writing just keeps getting better and better. But it's really no wonder, is it? She's just that good!
